21st African Day for Prevention of Occupational Risks

Wednesday April 19, 2017 saw the Cameroon Development Corporation as host to the “21st edition of the African Day for the Prevention of Occupational Risks (JAP) 2017, coupled with the 15th edition of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work.

The meeting took place at SS Club Bota-Limbe in the presence of the General Manager of CDC, Mr Franklin Ngoni Njie and his collaborators. In his welcome address, the GM said the CDC is priortising health and Safety.

The representative of the GM of CNPS, expressed immense gratitude to the General Manager of the CDC for the warm welcome she and her team received. Mrs Djeilani Mohamadou who doubles as Regional Director for the Littoral and South West regions lauded Mr Franklin Njie for his commitment to register all his employees, declare and pay their social contributions in a timely manner and his commitment to  respect the norms of health and security at work in his corporation.

 

These points were buttressed by power point presentations such as CDC’s Preventive Measures against Occupational Risks by the CDC Banana Research Manager, Dr Mbua Christopher and the Evolution of Occupational Accidents within the corporation by the CDC Resident doctor, Dr Pointeu Jean. The National Medical Adviser of NSIF, Dr Ndi Junior also did a presentation on the Organization for the Prevention of Occupational Risks at the National Social Insurance Fund amongst others.

In a question and answer session, CDC workers sought clarifications on some issues such as how a worker can verify if he/she has been registered by his/her employer. The Regional Director for the Littoral and South West regions dispelled some of the worries of the CDC workers, assuring them of her readiness to attend and seek solutions to any legitimate concern raised by the CDC. She gave her telephone number as well as that of the GM of CNPS and they are ready to answer more questions.

Rounding up the 21st edition of the African Day for the Prevention of Occupational Risks (JAP) 2017 and the 15th edition of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work, the General Manager of the CDC thanked the GM of the NSIF for selecting the CDC to host the occasion.
