The 2016 Sports and Leisure Association (SLA) season in the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) was launched on April 23, 2016 at the Tiko Holtforth Field.
“Sports in the CDC is very important. Doing sports means being healthy and being healthy guarantees increase productivity”, said the General Manager (GM) of CDC, Mr Franklin Ngoni Njie while launching the 2016 Sports and Leisure season in CDC. He thanked and appreciated the efforts put in place by the President of CDC SLA, Mr Charles Ndang and the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Mr Tapea Mbile. The GM said if the workers organize themselves, much will be done in the domain of sports without spending much money as he urged all to cultivate the habits of doing sports in order to be healthy.
In his welcome speech at the Holtforth Field in Tiko, Mr Tapea Mbille thanked the management of CDC for the choice of Tiko in this year’s launching of the 2016 SLA season. He pleaded that management should assist them in upgrading sports facilities especially the football field and the lawn tennis court.
On his part, the President of CDC Sports Leisure Association (SLA), Mr Charles Ndang congratulated Mr Tapea Mbille and his team for a job well done in the organization of the launching of the 2016 CDC SLA season. He also thanked the GM for the interest he attaches to sports and the wellbeing of workers.
As part of activities to launch the day in Tiko, two football matches were played. The first match was played between the CDC Bota Junior team and the CDC Tiko Junior team. The match ended goalless. The second encounter was played between CDC Bota Veteran and the CDC Tiko Veteran. The match ended in a one all tie.
In the tug of war, the Central Rubber Factory women defeated the Medical women. It should be noted that the tug of war is a sports that directly puts the two teams against each other in a test of strength. The launching was animated by the Oroko dance group in Tiko. At the end, there was a common meal at the CDC Tiko Holforth Club.
