The General Manager of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) had a common meal with his workers on May 1, 2015 and urged them to be more committed and hard working.
CDC workers celebrated the 129th edition of the International Labour Day in two phases. The march past at Manga Williams Avenue, which was presided over by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako Mr Zang III, and the reception at the Senior Service Club Bota.
The occasion which started at 10:00am at the Manga William Avenue lasted for four hours. In his message to workers of the Fako Division, Mr Zang III appreciated their full participation before and during the event. Dwelling on this year’s theme, “Construct the Future of Cameroon in Peace, Solidarity and Decent Work”, he highlighted the collective fight against Boko Haram and thanked Fako workers for their support and sacrifices in supporting the Head of State and the defence forces in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorist group. The SDO also advised the Trade Union leaders to pay attention to the problems faced by workers.
During the march past, workers of the CDC showcased their products notably Bananas, Rubber and Oil Palm. Immediately after the march past, they converged on the Senior Service Club in Bota for a common meal.
In his welcome address, at SS Club Bota, the Director of Human Resources, Mr Henry Ikome Becke said “the Labour Day is a time for workers to take stock of their previous activities and see how they can improve.” He advised them to work according to the rules and regulations of the corporation, putting in eight hours of work and not eight hours at work. He assured them that they represent the top priority of the CDC.
